Santa Luzia do Pacuí hosts the 7th stage of the 45th Interdistrict Football Tournament – News of Brazil

This weekend, the Municipal Sports and Leisure Coordination (Eat) carried out another selection of the 45th Interdistrict Football Tournament. The 7th qualifying phase of the championship took place in the community of Garimpo de São Tomé, district of Santa Luzia do Pacuí, rural area of Macapá. A total of 22 teams, including men’s and women’s teams, entered the field in search of a place in the grand final of the championship, scheduled for the 24th, 25th and 26th of March.
The football tournament is an initiative of City Hall of Macapa, through eat, whose purpose is to promote young non-federated athletes to participate in championships in the districts. “Each step completed is a satisfaction. In addition to sports, we bring entertainment to the districts, boost the economy and discover new talents”highlighted the coordinator of the Comel, Bruno Igreja.
The men’s team São Tomé do Pacuí and the women’s team São Francisco do Piririm secured their place in the final phase of the 45th interdistrict. The next qualifying stage of the tournament will take place in the Ressaca da Pedreira district, on February 11th and 12th. The final phase will be held in the city of Macapá, at the Santos Training Center.
“There are approximately 170 communities in the districts of Macapá that participate in this competition. The champions will receive prizes consisting of medals, trophies and a sum of money. The winners of each selective are also awarded”complemented Bruno Church.
The 45th interdistrict women’s and men’s football tournament is organized by the City of Macapá, through a parliamentary amendment by federal deputy Acácio Favacho and councilors Luany Favacho and Dudu Barbosa, with a counterpart from the Municipal Treasury.
In addition to encouraging the practice of sports, the championships boost the local economy during game days and encourage the appreciation of the rural area of Macapá. “People have been waiting for this. I got there and the community was all together renovating the field, painting the beams. It was a union of strength for a great party.”said Bruno.
After conversations, the expectation is to bring three women’s teams from the districts of Santa Luzia do Pacuí and Bailique. “After a request from the girls for a conversation, we decided to accept this request, considering that they were the districts that had the most female teams registered”explained the coordinator.
The Interdistrict, in addition to being an incentive, serves as a way to meet new talents. “We realize that there are many women in a position to play for professional teams, here and abroad, but the only thing missing is the opportunity to be seen”ended Bruno.
