“Potato roasting, 1, 2, 3”. One of the national championships with the most technical losses in the world began. And the 2023 version already has two absences even before the start.

Of the 20 teams in Série A do Brasileiro, two decided to debut without a teacher to call their own. The two Brazilians who went all the way without losing their necks were Rogério Ceni (São Paulo) and Dorival Jr. (who made a mixture of Ceará + Flamengo). Ceni is still firm and strong (or not) in São Paulo. Dorival was fired from Flamengo after winning Libertadores and Copa do Brasil and pacifying the locker room. He didn’t do well there. With so many accomplishments in 2022, Dorival is without a club in 2023.

Perhaps the number of beheadings this year is lower (yes, Poliana syndrome). Not exactly because the directors are more professional, but because the termination fines are huge. And it’s not everyone who has the generous budget for layoffs that Flamengo has (this must be what the “transition manager” does at the Rio club).

At Atlético Mineiro, they went crazy to fire Eduardo Coudet after a discord interview, in which the coach threw shit on the fan and turned it on to maximum. But they looked at the value of the fine and gave up. Still, this scribe believes that at least one team that started with a foreign coach at the helm will fall this year.
