Samsung: Stalker robot returns in version with more functions – 01/10/2024 – Tech

A cute robot that follows the user around the house was one of the most popular attractions at CES, a technology fair that started on Tuesday (9) in Las Vegas.

With six daily presentations, Samsung brought an updated version of its home robot Ballie, which can now project onto the wall, floor or ceiling while following the owner’s movements around the house.

“It’s cute, but a little scary, I don’t know if I want a robot that follows me everywhere,” says Jonathan Wo, a representative of a touch screen brand. “I came to see what the crowd was expecting, but I thought it was kind of silly.”

The brand’s proposal is for the robot to function as a domestic assistant, which turns on the lights when someone arrives home, regulates the pet’s food and reminds residents of important dates.

In the presentation, the robot projects an exercise video while counting the owner’s abs, distracts the dog with an image of birds flying and projects a welcome announcement on the floor when the owner arrives from work.

According to the brand, it allows you to control the air conditioning, light bulbs, washing machine and helps you research recipes.

It also promises to “talk” to other smart devices in the home and extract data from them and send video updates of pets or loved ones to users’ devices when they are away from home.

A previous version of the robot had been presented at CES in 2020, but it went from being the size of a tennis ball to more like a bowling ball. It is expected to be available for sale by the end of 2024.

The stage on which the robot demonstrated its skills alongside an actor and a presenter was one of the most sought after in the home launch sector – alongside Ballie, the American presenter and businesswoman Martha Stewart attracted less attention.

The event brings together more than 4,000 exhibitors, including big brands and startups. In the 2024 edition, the brand promises to be artificial intelligence.

For the 2024 edition of CES, thanks to AI, robots will have the ability to interact, autonomous vehicles will be more intuitive and mirrors will be increasingly efficient.
