Nurse Aline Peixoto, wife of the Minister of Civil Affairs, Rui Costa, was elected as counselor of the Court of Auditors of the Municipalities (TCM) of the State of Bahia. She was chosen by the Bahian deputies in a secret ballot, this Wednesday (8), in the plenary of the Legislative Assembly of Bahia (Alba).

Aline ran for office with former opposition deputy Tom Araújo (União Brasil), and obtained 40 votes against 19. There were four null votes. After the election, she released a press release, where she celebrated the choice of Bahian deputies, and highlighted being the first woman elected to the court precisely on International Women’s Day.

Upon assuming the role of counselor, which is for life, Aline will have stability until the age of 75 (the age limit for retirement in public service) and remuneration from R$ 35,462.22.

As Rui Costa’s wife, Aline will be the fourth minister’s wife to be a counselor in audit courts. The Minister of Social Development, Wellington Dias (PT), nominated his wife, Rejane Dias, for the Court of Accounts of the State of Piauí in January of this year. Two other ministers and former governors already had their wives as advisors before taking office: Renan Filho (MDB), whose wife, Renata Calheiros, was chosen for the TCE of Alagoas in December 2022; and Waldez Góes, from Regional Development, had the woman elected in February 2022 to the TCE of Amapá.
