If nominated for a chair at the Court of Auditors, Aline Peixoto will have a monthly salary of R$ 41,800 and will be able to remain in the position until compulsory retirement at the age of 75.

Aline Peixoto is a nurse, she has never run for elected office and for the past eight years she has worked for Voluntárias Sociais, a non-profit organization traditionally led by the first lady of the state.

The vacancy for the court has been open since May 2022, when counselor Raimundo Moreira retired. Since then, the Assembly has been postponing the appointment of a new name. To occupy the position, one must have “recognized moral integrity and knowledge of public administration”.

The articulation around Aline Peixoto gained strength this week after state deputy Alex Lima (PSB), a close ally of Rui Costa, gave up running for the vacancy to support the former first lady. Sought, she preferred not to comment on the dispute.

Also moving is federal deputy Marcelo Nilo (Republicans), who was president of the Assembly from 2007 to 2016, became federal deputy in 2019 and was not re-elected in 2022.

Marcelo Nilo was an ally of Rui Costa, but broke with the then governor last year to support ACM Neto (União Brasil). Now, he wants to run for the position of councilor with the support of the base and opposition: “If I feel that I have chances, I will run”, he says.

In Alagoas and Piauí, the wives of Renan Filho and Wellington Dias had easier ways to win their respective vacancies in the state audit courts.

In the Assembly of Alagoas, the race for the position had six candidates, but Renata Calheiros was elected comfortably: she had 22 votes from the 24 state deputies present at the session.

With a degree in administration, she worked in the implementation of programs in the area of ​​education in the Municipality of Murici and the Government of Alagoas.

In Piauí, Rejane Dias was unanimously elected with the votes of the 25 state deputies present after being nominated for the position by Governor Rafael Fonteles (PT). With a degree in administration, she has already been a federal deputy, state deputy and secretary in the management of Wellington Dias.
