The head of the Civil House, Rui Costa, has been the target of demands and criticism from the government base, said this Friday (2) that, in Brasília, doing wrong for many is right.
At an event in Bahia, President Lula’s (PT) strong minister also said that the federal capital is a fantasy island, an illusory bubble.
“Brasília is difficult. It is difficult because doing what is right for many people is wrong. And doing what is wrong for many is what is right in their minds”, he said during the inauguration in Itaberaba.
The former governor of Bahia also said that the transfer of the capital of Brazil to “far from people’s lives”, in his opinion, did a lot of harm to the country.
When reporting on a meeting that took place the day before, the minister said he told the participants that it would have been better to keep the headquarters of the Powers in Rio de Janeiro, or take them to São Paulo, Minas Gerais or even back to Bahia, so that people could faced hunger, misery and unemployment before entering the House and Senate.
“You can be sure. Brasilia will not change me and I will fight with all my strength to change Brasilia and change that way of looking at what is a public thing. I call that Fantasy Island”, he said.
The outburst comes at the end of a week in which the deputies threatened to overthrow the entire structure designed for the Lula government, which required the authorization of amendments and appointments, in charge of his portfolio.
Alongside Alexandre Padilha (Secretary of Institutional Relations), Rui Costa was appointed, among parliamentarians, as a resigning minister. Collaborators of Lula, however, cast doubt on his dismissal.
These allies remember that the president is grateful to the minister, who stopped running for the Senate to dedicate himself to the election of his successor and Lula himself.
The votes won in Bahia are listed as one of the causes of Lula’s victory over former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in October 2022.
