Rosa Weber forwards investigation against Zé Trovão to PGR

Minister Rosa Weber, president of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), forwarded to the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) the investigation request filed by Deputy Zeca Dirceu (PT-PR) against Deputy Zé Trovão (PL-SC) for ” possible threats” to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). The case’s rapporteur is Minister Dias Toffoli.

In the lawsuit against the congressman from Santa Catarina, Dirceu asks that the alleged practice of crimes committed on the social networks of Trovão, where manifestations of political violence and democratic intolerance against President Lula were broadcast. The investigation request points out that the messages of some videos would typify “crimes of threat (art. 147 of the CP), incitement to crime (art. 286 of the CP), apology of crime or criminal fact (art. 287 of the CP) and of arbitrary violence (art. 322 of the CP)”.

In one of the excerpts transcribed by Dirceu, there is the following statement made by Trovão: “Hey Lula, you bandit, you thief! You are a bandit, a thief! you sit in a presidential chair today. A good criminal is a criminal in jail or in the coffin”.

For the PT deputy, Trovão’s speech was “conduct of evident violence and democratic intolerance” and “a serious threat against the president’s life”. In addition to the “adoption of relevant administrative measures” because of the responsibilities for the alleged crimes committed, Dirceu also requested legal measures from digital platforms to stop the dissemination of the aforementioned video for “representing the practice of violence, hatred, threats and political intolerance”.

In May of this year, the STF revoked the precautionary measures against deputy Zé Trovão. He no longer uses an electronic anklet and can reactivate his Facebook, Telegram and Youtube accounts. The parliamentarian was arrested in October 2021 after surrendering to Justice, had house arrest decreed two months later and, shortly after, the adoption of precautionary measures, such as a ban on the use of social networks and granting interviews without prior authorization.
