Manaus (AM) – Traffic accidents caused by alcohol intake and the use of psychoactive substances are at the top of hospital care due to injuries and traumas. The main objective of this project, in addition to helping to prevent traffic accidents, is to enable the restoration of heritage by making the driver responsible, without burdening the State, reducing maintenance and replacement costs of public heritage that suffers some type of damage. damage, generating significant savings for public coffers,” he said.

According to the PL, drivers of any vehicles that cause traffic accidents under the influence of alcohol or psychoactive substances are obliged to fully refund material damage caused to state public property, including labor costs and any consequential damages.

“The responsibility of the driver involved in accidents, who is under the influence of alcohol or psychoactive substances, will serve as a pedagogical measure to prevent the community from being penalized for the error of a citizen. The obligation to pay for repairing damage resulting from an accident can serve as a measure to curb irresponsible driving, creating an additional reason for drivers not to drink or consume psychoactive substances before driving”, he reinforced.

It is considered as state public property, all equipment, construction, building, installation or natural asset available to the community that has been funded or is under the responsibility of maintenance by the State. The verification of the ingestion of alcohol or psychoactive substance will follow the standards set forth in the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB).

Risks of driving after consuming any amount of alcohol:
