Revenue auditors reject Lula government’s proposal and maintain strike

In an assembly held virtually, this Thursday (4), more than 5,500 tax auditors from the Federal Revenue rejected the proposal presented by the Lula government through the Ministry of Finance regarding the payment of bonuses in 2024. The category has been on strike since the November 20th. With the decision, the strike continues without an end date.

According to the Union of Federal Revenue Tax Auditors (Sindifisco Nacional), the auditors rejected the proposal presented by the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, and the Secretary of the Federal Revenue, Robinson Barreirinhas, at the meeting on December 27th. At the time, according to the union, the government maintained the bonus payment proposal that had already been rejected by 95% of the category.

“The continuation of the strike was approved by 69.13% of participants, in a clear message to the government about the demand for compliance with Law 13,464/17. And 93.56% now formally rejected the proposal presented by the Labor Relations Secretariat (MGI) at the National Permanent Negotiation Table in relation to the basic salary”, Sindifisco reported in a note.

The category requests compliance with the ordinance that regulates the payment of productivity bonuses, but which has not determined the parameters for this. Still, according to the auditors, there is no space in the 2024 budget for the payment of the bonus.

“The government’s proposal ignores the inflationary loss and, above all, penalizes retirees and pensioners even more: zero adjustment in basic salary in 2024 and 9% staggered in 2025 and 2026. The government proposed adjustments to benefits, starting in May 2024 : 51% for health assistance, 51% for daycare assistance and 52% for food vouchers. The Auditors and Tax Auditors, by 93.56% of votes, rejected this proposal which, despite inflationary pressure and practically seven years without adjustment – ​​with the exception of the 9% for 2023 – places retirees and pensioners who do not have the right to aid, once again, as the group most harmed by the lack of a correct remuneration policy”, says another excerpt from the Sindifisco note.

When speaking about the category’s demands, in November last year, the president of Sindifisco Nacional, Isac Falcão, said that the case had been going on since 2016 and that Haddad had signaled compliance with the rule.

“The law dates back to 2016 and was not implemented because there was a lack of regulation. The decree came, but no appeal was made in the Budget for 2024. Minister Haddad has already spoken publicly to say that it is a law, and you can agree or disagree with it, but it must be complied with”, stated Falcão.
