Accompanied by physiotherapy and physical education professionals, the young woman is in the last phase of treatment and is preparing to return to training.

“I didn’t feel like eating or getting out of bed, I couldn’t sleep. Now I can do my activities without getting tired, I’m back to sleeping well and I’m very excited to get back to my routine. I just have to thank all RespiroR professionals and Governor Wilson Lima for having created this program”,

said Claudiny Lima.

A jiu-jitsu practitioner since 2019, 26-year-old Claudiny Lima began to experience difficulties in training when she was diagnosed with tuberculosis in 2022. services of the RespiroR program, of the Government of Amazonas, coordinated by the Secretary of State for Sports and Leisure (Sedel).

Currently in the second stage of treatment, Claudiny has responded very well to physical activity. “We are working with her on muscle strengthening and resistance, the forecast is that in two months she will be able to return to her activities, including training jiu-jitsu”, explained Rosa Ângela Vargas, a physical education professional at the RespiroR unit in the Vila Olímpica de Manaus.

The benefits of physical activity

RespireAR psychologist Themis Eliza Cordeiro points out that when a person performs physical activity, the body is stimulated to naturally produce more serotonin and endorphins, she explains the importance of these hormones mainly for the mental health of young people.

“When practicing physical activity, the body produces the hormones responsible for activating the neurotransmitters that cause a feeling of well-being that help to reduce the symptoms of anxiety, depression and stress. That’s why it’s very important to perform physical exercises regularly”,

explained Themis Eliza, a professional who works in the area of ​​clinical psychological care at the Vila Olímpica de Manaus.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that adults do between 150 and 300 minutes a week, and for children and adolescents 60 minutes of practice a day. In addition to promoting physical health, practicing sports helps with discipline, increases self-confidence, improves concentration and teaches young people to exercise leadership, among many other benefits.
