Research points to Bolsonaro supporters as the most influential on networks

Opposition parliamentarians to the Lula government and ideologically linked to former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) are those with the greatest influence on social networks, according to a survey by Genial/Quaest, released this Monday (3).
The PL, Bolsonaro’s acronym, dominates the top positions on the lists. Six out of ten deputies, and five out of ten senators, are affiliated with the party. Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) leads the ranking among the most influential federal deputies. In the Senate, Senator Cleitinho (Republicanos-MG) is appointed as the most influential.
The only government deputy that appears in the ranking, among the 10 most influential, is André Janones (Avante-MG), who was the protagonist of President Lula’s networks during the campaign in last year’s elections. In the ranking of the 10 senators, there is no parliamentarian from the base of the government.
The ranking was prepared by Quaest from 152 variables — which include the number of followers, likes, comments, shares and searches — collected from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Google and Wikipedia. Based on these data, the study created the Digital Popularity Index (IPD), which measures the virtual relevance of parliamentarians.
