The Commission for the Defense of Women’s Rights of the Chamber of Deputies approved a bill that creates the Vale-Táxi Social program, aimed at transporting elderly people with chronic illnesses and pregnant women, during pregnancy and in the first months after giving birth, who are in a situation of social vulnerability. The voucher guarantees round-trip transport to the health unit, hospital or public maternity ward.
According to the proposal, the public health unit that serves the beneficiary of the program will be responsible for validating the Social Taxi Voucher. And you must also register participating taxi drivers, with vehicle identification, taxi driver name, working hours and telephone number for the call.
The approved text was the substitute of the rapporteur, deputy Professor Goreth (PDT-AP) for Bill 666/21, by former deputy Nereu Crispim (RS). The deputy included rules on registration in the program in the project, allowing people not yet registered in the Single Registry for Social Programs of the Federal Government (CadÚnico) to be part of the Social Taxi Voucher. The original text required participants to be registered.
According to the new text, the interested party must present proof of family income and inform the composition of the family and place of residence to the social worker at the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family and Fight Against Hunger.
Professor Goreth also expanded the voucher for mothers in the first months after giving birth. “Nothing is fairer for women and their families, given the periodic medical consultations of children at a young age”he said.
“Beneficiaries of the program will have easier access to the health services they need. In turn, the taxi driver participating in the program will have the fare paid for by public resources.”, concluded the rapporteur by defending the approval of the proposal, which will still be analyzed, conclusively, by the committees for the Defense of the Rights of Elderly Persons; of health; Finance and Taxation; and Constitution and Justice and Citizenship (CCJ).
