The success of the Youth Games depends on the efforts of many people. Among them, a very special group: the volunteers. Essential in major sporting events, such as the Olympic and Pan American Games, volunteers have participated in the Youth Games since 2005. For this year’s edition, which will take place between September 1st and 16th, in Ribeirão Preto (SP), the Brazilian Olympic Committee started this Tuesday (21) the process of selecting volunteers for the event. Applications can be made until June 16 through the link
“The volunteer workforce contributes significantly to the event, supporting the different functional areas of the organizing committee. For the 2023 edition, in Ribeirão Preto, we hope to once again count on the collaboration of this group, always so happy, enthusiastic, receptive, participatory and committed to delivering yet another unforgettable edition of the Youth Games”stated Kenji Saito, Director of Development and Sport Sciences at COB.
COB estimates that around 200 volunteers will be selected for Ribeirão Preto to work in the different areas of the event’s organization, such as accreditation, secretariat, medical area, ceremonies, warehouse, transport, community center, competition venues, among others. During the competition, everyone receives a credential, uniform, food, certificate with declaration of hours of activities and allowance.
At the end of the registration period, COB will analyze the profiles of all interested parties and, within the limit of available vacancies, will select the ones that best fit for each area of activity.
The Youth Games bring together the best athletes up to 17 years of age, from public and private schools across the country. In all, more than 6,000 people are involved in the event, including athletes, the Organizing Committee, directors, referees, coaches, doctors, journalists and, of course, volunteers.
