As part of the 36th anniversary program of the municipality of Santana, called “Vida Santana”, the community of Ilha de Santana, more precisely the Recanto da Aldeia resort, hosted the competition of various sports this Sunday (10). Amateur volleyball, footvolley and beach soccer athletes played exciting games.
Under the scorching sun, the thermometers registered 34 degrees. Hundreds of people attended the event, offering an opportunity for small entrepreneurs to profit from the sale of drinks, food and snacks. In addition, the boatmen who work to transport tourists in the harbors also had the chance to earn money.
Tiago Silva, a beach soccer athlete, considers the continuity of sports programs on Santana Island to be important, highlighting the lack of activities in the region.
“Particularly, I really like this type of programming here at Recanto da Aldeia. Our community is very lacking in sporting activities and whenever there are, my colleagues and I participate”, he emphasized.
The program, organized by Santana City Hall through the Department of Sports and Leisure (Sandel), promoted the competitions, guaranteeing safety and prizes for the teams. According to Biraga Rocha, manager of the department, the location has not been forgotten since the summer.
“It is our priority to value all communities in the municipality. We already had Interbairros and now, Ilha de Santana, in particular, has been hosting programs since Santana Verão. And today, here at Recanto da Aldeia, we were able to see all these sports in an organized and safe way”he stated.
Vice-mayor Isabel Nogueira attended the event and stated that Viva Santana offers activities for all tastes.
“Viva Santana promotes the entire municipality without distinction. It is very beautiful to see Recanto da Aldeia with so many people attending and, above all, moving the community. This demonstrates Mayor Bala’s management capacity, who does not forget anyone. Congratulations to all the participating teams,” he said.
The sports program for Santana’s birthday will continue on the 17th, at Praia do Vermelho, with futlama tournaments.
