Real Madrid announced on Monday (26) the renewal of the contract of midfielder Luka Modric until June next year. The 37-year-old Croatian has been a Real Madrid player since 2012.
Renewal for just one season is usually Real Madrid’s policy for players over 30.
The deal puts an end to speculation about the future of the midfielder who, like other current football stars, was in the sights of clubs in Saudi Arabia.
Last week, Real Madrid also renewed the bonds of Toni Kroos, Nacho and Dani Ceballos.
In 11 seasons for the club from the Spanish capital, Modric played 488 games and won 23 titles. Among them are three Spanish leagues, five UEFA Champions Leagues and five Club World Cups.
In 2018, he was elected best player in the world by FIFA and also won the Golden Ball award, from France Football magazine.
