The governor of Paraná, Ratinho Jr. (PSD), met with Joesley and Wesley Batista, owners of J&F, the holding company that controls the brothers’ companies, to ask JBS to install two new factories in the state: one for biofuel and the other for pigs.

JBS opened, at the end of October, two Seara processed food factories in Rolândia (PR). With an investment of R$1 billion, the two units will have the capacity to hire up to 6,000 employees.

In the conversation, which took place at the headquarters of JBS, in São Paulo, this Thursday (9), Ratinho Jr said he would like more units of the food giant in his state as a way of industrializing poorer areas.

He, however, did not specify the locations, nor did he intend to grant incentives to the group for the projects.

To date, JBS plans to invest R$3 billion in the country in the coming years. The company says, however, that the investment could reach R$15 billion by 2026, if it starts to operate in dual listing – on B3 and the New York Stock Exchange.

To do this, the company needs authorization from regulatory bodies – the CVM (Securities and Exchange Commission), in Brazil, and the SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission), in the USA.

When contacted, J&F and JBS declined to comment.
