Rate: Dorinaldo’s PL prohibits red flag collection in Amapá – News of Brazil

Federal Deputy Dorinaldo Malafaia (PDT) filed, this Monday afternoon (7), in the Chamber of Deputies, in Brasília, the Bill (PL) 3759/2023 that prohibits the collection of the so-called yellow and red flags for states producers and surpluses of renewable electricity, as is the case of Amapá.
“It is not possible to accept the tariff that is being charged in Amapá. We have four hydroelectric plants and we produce much more energy than we consume. This is the first PL that I will present in this regard. It is a political and social struggle that I am taking on. We are going to try on several fronts so that the people of Amapa pay a fair energy tariff, not the absurdity that it is today”, declared Dorinaldo.
Regional inequality and injustice
The main argument of the “PL of the tariff flag” is that it is not fair for consumers in producing and surplus states to bear the payment, exactly equally, to consumers in states that are not producers or deficit.
“When the reservoirs in the south and southeast dry up, due to high consumption and bad weather, who made their rivers and part of the biodiversity available, have to pay more? It is unfair and is yet another proof of the huge regional inequality that exists in Brazil. Our mandate stands in defense of Amapá and the Amazon”, finished Dorinaldo.
