Senator Randolfe Rodrigues was in the Kuahi village, in Oiapoque, and met with indigenous leaders in the region to seek solutions for the main difficulties faced by the communities.
The Public Prosecutor of the Federal Public Ministry in Amapá, Alexandre Parreira; the mayor of Oiapoque, Breno Almeida; and the coordinator of the Indigenous Peoples Foundation in Amapá, Priscila Karipuna, also participated in the meeting.
Improvement of the branches that give access to the villages is one of the main requests of the indigenous population of the municipality of Oiapoque. “We will seek a solution, as soon as possible, to regularize the branches, through Funai, and in the allocation of amendments so that the services are carried out by the municipal government”, said Randolfe.
Mayor Breno Almeida said that the city hall already has the necessary machinery for the work, and is awaiting the release of funds for the execution. “The machines are ready to serve our communities. Now we have the support of Senator Randolfe, with the amendment allocation to start the work. All our efforts are aimed at improving the lives of traditional peoples”, said the mayor of Oiapoque.
In addition to the branches, the leaders requested better access to health, security, schools and energy services for the villages. Randolfe also stated that he will seek support from the federal government to take photovoltaic kits to all two hundred villages in Amapá and northern Pará.
Paving of the BR-156
Another topic discussed at the meeting was the halt in the relocation of villages located on the banks of the BR-156. The leaders of the communities that have their land cut off by the BR agreed with the advance of paving, as long as the population was relocated to other areas.
“This week we are going to ask Dnit to analyze the controversies that are preventing progress in relocating the villages. Our mission is to bring more quality of life to everyone, always respecting our native peoples”, guaranteed the senator.
