Here comes another edition of Queen of Rio! After a break for New Year’s Eve, the Mineirinho National Jiu-Jitsu Circuit returns on February 4th and 5th, when Arena Carioca 1, in Parque Olímpico (RJ), will host the CBJJD’s Rio Summer Open. In addition to the Queen of Rio, on Saturday (4), the tournament will also feature the New Talent Challenge – bringing together six super kids fights – on Sunday (5).
Going into its third edition, Queen of Rio brings together female superfights with the right to belt for the champions and has everything to move the Jiu-Jitsu community among women. For this comeback, there will be six fights – involving eight different teams. In the main duel, black belts Maria Claudia (Infight) x Karen Terra (CT MR) will face each other. In the co-main event, also at black belt, Andressa Gomes (Prime) will face Renata Borges (Nova União).
Valid for the third stage of the Mineirinho National Jiu-Jitsu Circuit, the Rio Summer Open 2023 will also have fights for all weight and age categories, from pre-child to master, from white to black belt. All absolute champions, male and female, will receive cash prizes.
CBJJD President Rogério Gavazza hopes that Queen of Rio encourages greater participation of women in the championship: “Because of this special women’s event, our expectation is for a significant number of women at the Rio Summer Open. They always put on a show, so It sure would be nice to see.”
The second batch of registrations for the championship, it is worth mentioning, ends this Friday, January 20th.
