Quaest: Lula’s government approved by 42% and disapproved by 24% – 08/16/2023 – Power

After seven and a half months in office, the government of President Lula (PT) has 42% approval and 24% disapproval, while 29% consider the PT management regular — and another 5% were unable or unwilling to answer.

This is what reports the Quaest survey released on Wednesday (16). The institute personally interviewed 2,029 people aged 16 or over from August 10 to 14, in a survey with an estimated margin of error of 2.2 percentage points, up and down.

The results show an improvement in the popularity of the Lula government, which in June had a positive rating of 37% and a negative rating of 27%. Another 32% considered the PT administration regular, and 4% were unable or unwilling to answer at the time.

The results obtained now break a cycle of stability, seen in the last measurements of the research and consultancy company.

In April, the president had registered 36% approval and 29% disapproval, oscillating one point positively among those with a positive opinion in June, and two points negatively among those with a negative evaluation.

This month, the numbers fluctuated positively in all regions of Brazil, except in the Midwest and North regions, aggregated into a single data by Quaest.

In these two regions, the petista went from 35% to 32% of positive evaluation, while the rejection went from 30% to 28% and those who consider the government regular stayed at 31% – one point less than in June. Those who did not know or did not want to answer reached 9%, six points more than in the previous survey.

Lula also had a positive oscillation among Jair Bolsonaro (PL) voters. The representative scored 12% among those who approve the government, compared to 9% in June. Those who disapprove of the government are 51%, four points less than in the last survey.

Quaest also asked about the opinion regarding the work done by Lula at the head of the Planalto, resulting in 60% approval – in the previous measurement, the number was 56%. Those who said they disapproved of the PT’s work are at 35%, a drop of five points compared to the results of June.

Those who did not know or did not want to answer this question accounted for 5%.

Here, the PT also obtained good regional results, with the exception of the Midwest and North. In these regions, those who think the current president’s efforts are positive are 52%, against 39% of those who think the government’s work is negative.

The trend of improvement in the Southeast and South regions continued. In the latter, for example, approval of Lula’s work went from 48% to 59%, while disapproval went from 48% to 38%. In the Southeast, 55% agree with the PT’s efforts, and 39% disagree.

In the Northeast, the scenario is one of stability, with 72% approving Lula’s work — a positive oscillation of one point in relation to the previous poll.
