Public Ministry reveals which games of the Brasileiro are suspected of manipulation

O Public Ministry of Goiás (MPGO) told this Tuesday (18) which games of the Serie A and of State he has suspicion of manipulationafter investigation and operation carried out in six states of the Brazil.

SERIES A LIST

– Santos x Avai (11/05) – suspicion of attempted co-option of Santos athlete to receive a yellow card.
– Red Bull Bragantino x América-MG (05/11) – Bragantino player is shown a yellow card.
– Goiás vs Juventude (11/05) – enticing two athletes to take yellow cards.
– Cuiabá x Palmeiras (05/11) – a player from Cuiabá also enticed to take the yellow card
– Santos x Botafogo (10/11) – athlete co-opted to receive a red card.
– Juventude x Palmeiras (10/9) – enticement to receive a yellow card.

“These were the five games that were in the scope of investigation in this operation. But during the fulfillment of one of the warrants, an athlete confessed to participation in another game, in September, also on a yellow card, in Juventude x Palmeiras”, said Fernando Cesconeto, promoter of the MPGO.

THE LIST OF STATE 2023

– Goiás x Goiânia – partial defeat, it was bet and the players were enticed so that Goiânia had a partial defeat in the first half, by a certain number of goals.

– Esportivo x Novo Hamburgo – commit penalty by Novo Hamburgo player.

NO NAMES

The Public Prosecutor’s Office did not release the names of those involved in the aforementioned cases. Prosecutor Fernando Cesconetto said that the fact that the manipulation attempt was identified does not mean that the players carried out the acts.

WHAT CRIMES?

“The investigation is focused on the crime of criminal organization, as well as on crimes of corruption in the sporting context provided for in the fan’s statute. who entices. That person who gives or promises an advantage can respond for a crime with a sentence of two to six years in prison. The player, who requests or accepts an advantage, also responds. Not ruling out moving to the crime of money laundering or other crimes to be identified”, declared Cesconet.

VALUES INVOLVED

In the cases of Série A, the MPGO said that the amounts offered to players generated between R$50,000 and R$60,000 per athlete for each event. In the states, amounts ranged from R$70,000 to R$100,000.

There was no professional player arrest today. But three preventive arrest warrants were served in the state of São Paulo.
