Public Ministry recommends dismissal of member of the Amapá Previdência investment committee – News of Brazil

The president of Amapá Previdência (Amprev) and the Amapá State Pension Council received a recommendation from the Amapá Public Ministry to immediately dismiss José Milton Afonso Gonçalves from his position as member of the Amprev Investment Committee. The recommendation is signed by prosecutor Laércio Mendes.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office considered the existence, in the 2nd Public Prosecutor’s Office for the Defense of Public Heritage, Administrative Probity and Foundations of Macapá, of the Civil Inquiry Preparatory Procedure, which has as its objective: “to investigate possible illegality in the appointment of José Milton, to member of the Amprev Investment Committee”, since he was denounced by the Federal Public Ministry of Amapá (MPF) for committing a crime against the financial system, specifically the crime of reckless management, in a criminal action being processed in the 4th Federal Court of Amapá Judicial Section.
The criminal action states that José Milton Afonso Gonçalves, as a member of the Investment Committee of Macapá Previdência (Macapaprev), approved the contribution of more than R$ 4 million in resources from the entity in the Fund called “BARCELONA”, without any technical study prior and in violation of the prohibition established by the regulatory body of Social Security Regimes, causing millionaire losses to the aforementioned Social Security Fund.
The Federal Police investigates the investment of resources from pension plans in funds without financial backing and without registration with the competent bodies, the end result of which was the loss of the amounts invested.
In the recommendation, prosecutor Laércio Mendes, mentions that even though he was responding to an action for a crime committed as a member of the Investment Committee of Macapá Previdência, with millionaire losses to the entity, José Milton was appointed to join the Investment Committee of Amapá Previdência in August this year, which constitutes a flagrant violation of the principles of morality and administrative efficiency, hence the recommendation for his dismissal.
News of Brazil tried to hear from the president of Amprev, Jocildo Lemos, about the recommendation to dismiss José Milton, but the calls were not answered and there was no response from him.
