prior licensing

In all, more than 700 people participated in the two meetings, which lasted more than four hours in Silves and four hours in Itapiranga

amazon – Eneva participated in two public hearings regarding the licensing process for the Complexo Azulão Thermoelectric Power Plant (UTE Azulão) this weekend in the municipalities of Silves (2) and Itapiranga (3), in Amazonas. In all, more than 700 people participated in the two meetings, which lasted more than four hours in Silves and four hours in Itapiranga.

Mediated by the Institute for Environmental Protection of Amazonas (IPAAM), the meetings aimed to present the Environmental Impact Study and the Environmental Impact Report (EIA/Rima) to the population and clarify doubts about the undertaking. The EIA can be accessed on the IPAAM website by clicking here.

These meetings mark the conclusion of the schedule of public hearings for prior licensing of the Azulão Complex – in June this year, meetings were held focused on the licensing of pipelines and clusters that mobilized 1,100 people in Silves and Itapiranga. The plant will have a capacity of 1,083 MW, enough energy to supply 4 million homes, and is expected to start operating at the end of 2026.

“Public hearings are an extremely relevant stage of the project. Through them, we managed to reach and, more than that, engage the local population, which was present and from the beginning showed great interest in the project, asking questions of technical and also social content that could be clarified”,

said Felipe Roza, Eneva’s Environmental and Land Licensing manager.

For Eneva, the hearings confer legitimacy to all stages of the project, complying with laws and regulations that contribute to the socioeconomic development of the region. According to the company’s planning, R$ 5.8 billion will be invested in the interior of Amazonas until Complexo Azulão is completed.

The events were attended by local authorities and representatives, such as the mayor of Silves, Raimundo Paulino de Almeida Grana; the president of IPAAM, Juliano Valente; state deputy Sinésio da Silva Campos; the secretary of Renewable Energies, Mining and Gas of the State of Amazonas, Roney Cesar Peixoto; the Secretary for the Environment of Silves, Janderlei Gadelha; the prosecutor of the Public Ministry of the State of Amazonas, Márcio Pereira de Melo; the president of the State Indigenous Foundation, Sinésio Trovão; the president of the Federation of Fishing and Aquaculture Workers of Amazonas, João Vieira da Silva; the director of the Civil Construction and Assembly Union of Amazonas, Carlos Waldemar Correa dos Santos; among other civil society representatives.

About Eneva

Eneva is the largest private operator of onshore natural gas in Brazil and an integrated energy company, which operates from exploration and production (E&P) of natural gas to the supply of energy solutions. The company has E&P assets in the states of Amazonas and Maranhão. Currently, it operates 12 natural gas fields in the Parnaíba (MA) and Amazonas (AM) Basins, and holds four exploratory blocks in the Paraná Basin (MS), with a total area under concession of more than 63,000 km², the largest in Brazil.

With a generation park with 6.3 GW of contracted capacity in operation and construction, Eneva produces safe and competitive energy for the Brazilian electrical system. Its already operational thermoelectric generation assets are located in the states of Maranhão (Parnaíba and Itaqui Complex), Ceará (Pecém II and Termofortaleza), Sergipe (Hub Sergipe) and Roraima (Jaguatirica II) and the others, still in the implementation phase, are located in Amazonas (Azulão Complex, with the Azulão 950 MW project) and in Maranhão (UTE Parnaíba VI and the natural gas liquefaction plants). In renewables, Eneva will soon start the commercial operation of Complexo Solar Futura, in Juazeiro, Bahia – one of the largest photovoltaic parks in the Americas.

A pioneer by nature, Eneva has developed a unique business model in Brazil: the Reservoir-to-Wire (R2W), which consists of thermal generation integrated into the natural gas producing fields and the SSLNG (Liquefied Natural Gas on a Small Scale) produced and delivered to large industrial customers by road, in the Reservoir-to-Client (R2C) model.

With this, the company plays an important role in the transition of the Brazilian energy matrix, offering energy from a flexible, economical and efficient fuel. Listed on the Novo Market of the B3 (Brazilian Stock Exchange) since 2007, the company is a member of the Ibovespa and the Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE), among other stock exchange indices. Eneva aims to continue growing responsibly, offering reliable and affordable energy solutions for society.
