The PT and the Chinese Communist Party sign a cooperation protocol this Wednesday (20) in Brasília, reinforcing the alliance between the two parties.
The Chinese will be represented by Li Xi, one of the seven members of the standing committee, the party’s main decision-making body and one of the most powerful men in the Asian giant.
“The Chinese Communist Party is among the PT’s main friends around the world”, says the PT Secretary of International Relations, Romanio Pereira. One of the party’s interlocutors with the Chinese, he has been to the country seven times since 2004.
The protocol will be signed by Li and PT president Gleisi Hoffmann. It provides for exchanges of experiences and opinions on international issues, in addition to exchanging leaders and holding joint events.
The Chinese leader must also have meetings with members of the Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) government, part of the process of reestablishing Brazil’s ties with the country after the distance during the years of Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
According to Romanio, the PT has relations with left-wing parties in different parts of the world. “We are close to the American Democratic Party too, for example. We have diplomatic links with democratic and popular sectors in several countries,” he says.
