The Workers’ Party will promote, next Saturday (7/1), a July party at a club in Brasilia, where invitations to the event cost between R$300 and R$5,000 and the proceeds will go exclusively to the party. The event took place in other PT governments, which celebrated the last typical party in 2009, at Granja do Torto.
After President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva confirmed his presence at the event, the demand for invitations skyrocketed and the party estimates that more than 500 people will participate in the arraiá. According to the PT’s national finance secretary, Gleide Andrade, the party “aims to continue the financial collection actions for the maintenance of training, mobilization and communication activities that have been increased in recent years by the national direction of the PT broken”.
Federal deputies called on the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office to suspend the PT’s Arraiá, due to the participation of foreigners from the left who will come to Brazil to participate in the São Paulo Forum meeting in that same period. According to the indictment, the event “expresses opposition to the Law on Political Parties, which prohibits any type of foreign financing in party entities, even indirectly”.
