About 21 of the 23 parties in the Chamber of Deputies formed a single parliamentary bloc with 496 federal deputies, this Wednesday (1), to compete for positions in the Board of Directors, including the presidency of the House. The names of those nominated by the bloc and by the parties to run for the 11 positions on the Board of Directors will be defined in a meeting of leaders.

The newly formed bloc managed to bring together the PT, of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and the PL, of former President Jair Bolsonaro, in support of the election of Deputy Arthur Lira (PP-AL) for a new term as President of the Chamber. .

Only Novo (3 deputies) and the federation formed by Psol and Rede (14 deputies) do not participate in the bloc. Novo announced the launch of deputy Marcel Van Hatten (RS) as a candidate for the presidency of the Chamber, and the federation Psol-Rede launched deputy Chico Alencar (Psol-RJ).

The preparatory session for the election of the Bureau is scheduled for 4:30 pm, after the meeting of leaders to choose the positions of the Bureau. Voting is secret and will only start when there are at least 257 deputies in the plenary. The calculation is carried out by office, starting with the president.
