PT must approve Tarcísio’s minimum wage, but wants changes – 05/01/2023 – Panel

The PT bench in the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo should not oppose the bill to be sent by Governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) this Tuesday (2) proposing the state minimum wage of R$ 1,550.
As anticipated by the Panel, the state floor will increase to 20.7%, against the 8.9% increase given by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) for the national minimum. Appointed as a possible candidate for president in 2026, Tarcísio will personally go to the Legislative Assembly to deliver the proposal to state deputies.
“Nothing that improves the lives of workers we will be against”, says deputy Reis (PT). The PT bench, however, intends to present amendments to ensure that the minimum is respected in earnest. “The problem with the state minimum wage is that few people receive it”, says the PT candidate. The party has 18 state deputies, the second largest group in the House.
