State deputy Paulo Fiorilo (PT), leader of the PT/PCdoB and PV federation in the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo, will join the São Paulo Public Prosecutor’s Office so that Lucas Ferraz, Secretary of International Business in the Tarcísio de Freitas government (Republicans ), be investigated for allegedly providing false news, reproduced in the press.
The request is for the Public Prosecutor’s Office to investigate whether the government’s advertising apparatus was used to produce and disseminate false news, with a defamatory character and political motivation, deviating from the purpose of official advertising and colluding with the commission of crimes, says the parliamentary.
A report by CNN Brasil stated that Antonov stopped investing US$ 50 billion in Brazil due to speeches by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) regarding the war between Russia and Ukraine.
After the company’s public denial, CNN Brasil published a report in which the International Business Secretariat, commanded by Ferraz, claims to have received representatives from Antonov to address the issue. The Ukrainian state-owned company released a new note in which it says it does not have representatives in Brazil.
On Thursday night, CNN Brasil claimed to have received a new version from the Ukrainians that would confirm that there was contact between the company and the government of São Paulo. According to the station, an e-mail from an Antonov director says that “preliminary negotiations” were made through a representative in Brazil for the installation of a factory.
At Palácio dos Bandeirantes, there is strong suspicion that the alleged company employees are not Antonov and that the government has fallen into a kind of trap. As the Panel showed, Tarcísio is considering dismissing Ferraz, which would be the first casualty of the management.
The situation generated unease with the Lula government, with accusations by ministers that the state government was producing fake news to undermine the image of the PT. Tarcísio telephoned Lula to try to explain himself.
“The mode of production and dissemination of news without proper official proof is perplexing. The publication of fake news can characterize the crime of defamation and therefore it is essential that the Public Ministry investigates what actually happened and whether there was political motivation”, says Paulo Fiorilo.
