Request presented to Aleam proposes implementation of CAIC in 10 municipalities
Manaus (AM) – State deputy Mayra Dias (Avante) presented a request to the Amazonas Legislative Assembly (Aleam) to expand access to quality healthcare for children and adolescents living in municipalities in the interior of Amazonas. The document indicates to the State Government the feasibility of implementing the Center for Comprehensive Care for Children and Adolescents (CAIC).
The proposal is aimed at municipalities with strategic hubs, namely: Manacapuru, Itacoatiara, Parintins, Tabatinga, Tefé, Lábrea, Eirunepé, Humaitá, Coari and São Gabriel da Cachoeira.
According to the parliamentarian, the expansion of CAIC to the interior becomes imperative to alleviate the pent-up demand for specialized care, thus contributing to the reduction of infant and youth mortality. The main focus covers the prevention of diseases and health problems, the promotion of healthy development and the protection of the fundamental rights of children and adolescents.
“This population (children and adolescents) faces several challenges in guaranteeing their rights to health, education, information and social protection. The supply of these services is often concentrated in urban areas, leaving rural regions with limited or even non-existent access”, he highlighted.
In the request, the deputy emphasizes that the implementation of the CAIC in the interior hub municipalities represents a significant advance in strengthening public health policies aimed at children and adolescents. The proposed center aims to offer multidisciplinary care and services, covering areas such as health promotion, medical assistance, psychosocial support, pediatric, dental and neonatal care, as well as outpatient services, among other actions.
