The president of the Mixed Parliamentary Front in Defense of the Amazon, federal deputy Professor Goreth (PDT-AP), said this morning, on the LuizMeloEntrevista program (Diário FM 90.9), that it is necessary to preserve the region, but that the greater focus on this struggle are the people who inhabit it.
Goreth spoke on the radio to announce the official launch of the Parliamentary Front, at 10:00 am today, in Brasília, at the Salão Nobre of the Chamber of Deputies, with the presence of authorities and representatives of public and private institutions, in addition to NGOs that fight for the environmental cause. .
In the interview, Professor Goreth declared that the Mixed Front in Defense of the Amazon, bringing together deputies and senators, has among its main objectives the protagonism in the decision-making process in the Legislative Power, mobilizing parliamentarians around the policies that affect the region and its population .
“We need to face the socio-economic challenges and guarantee quality public policies.to develop the Amazon, combining environmental preservation with the quality of life of the Amazonians”, said Goreth in the interview.
Federal deputy Professor Goreth informed that the Joint Parliamentary Front in Defense of the Amazon has ten thematic axes, among them, sustainable development and the economic factor.
The other nine themes of the Parliamentary Front are the following: environmental preservation and management of natural resources; rights of indigenous peoples and traditional communities; environmental education and awareness; international cooperation and external relations; monitoring and control of deforestation and climate; land regularization and territorial organization; health and well-being of Amazonian communities; infrastructure and logistics; and science, innovation and technology.
