Inspired by the positive results and repercussions of the action ‘More Smile’held from June 19 to 28 in the Waiãpi indigenous village, Aramirã, in Pedra Branca do Amapari, the first lady of the state, Priscila Flores, informed this Wednesday morning, 12, in the program ‘LuizMeloEntrevista’ (Diário FM 90.9)that reruns of the services are being considered in opportune occasions, going forward.
Priscila explained that at the moment, Mais Sorriso is being reviewed in Aramirã, so that later, one or two actions per year can be considered, in addition to indigenous areas, in needy, riverside and quilombola communities in the state of Amapá. The participation of the NGO ‘Doctors of the Amazon’ only with indigenous people has already been defined.
Other needy communities, informed the first lady, will receive the Mais Sorriso action with government teams, volunteers and partners. “Here we have excellent dentists, qualified labor, competent public servants in the health area”highlighted Priscila Flores, in the program ‘LuizMeloEntrevista’.
At the same time as the interview, the first lady’s advisory issued a press release informing that “The Government of Amapá and the NGO Doutores da Amazônia have joined efforts to bring social, health and dental services to the Waiãpi indigenous peoples, the so-called ‘guardians of the forest’, who live in the west of the state”. There were more than 40,000 consultations and procedures carried out in the Mais Sorriso action.
More than a thousand indigenous people, from neighboring communities, who arrived in Aramirã, walking through the forest, were assisted in the structure set up in the village, in Pedra Branca do Amapari. The action adapted signs in the native language to indicate the services offered. Interpreters also accompanied the consultations, helping the professionals.
Volunteers
With 40 volunteers, the NGO Doutores da Amazônia directly contributed to the success of the Mais Sorriso action. There were more than three thousand consultations in specialties such as dentistry, pediatrics, ophthalmology, gynecology and general practice.
Attendances
Pediatric, gynecological, ophthalmological and general practice consultations: 3,261 consultations; specialized dentistry: 530 consultations; dental procedures: 2,879; proceedings: 32,619; laboratory tests: 4 thousand; rapid test for covid-19: 2,365; testing for malaria: 86 cases; medical prescriptions: 810; registration for the Renda para Viver Melhor program: 259; registration for the Bolsa Família program: 327; psychologist: 29 assistances; recreation: 638 children assisted; conversation wheels: 42; Fire Department: eight calls. More smiles
The Mais Sorriso project is an action idealized by the Government of Amapá, which in this first stage worked in partnership with the NGO Doutores da Amazônia, which provided 40 volunteers to provide oral health services such as digital dentistry, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, dentistry, surgery and prosthodontics to the Aramirã village.
With state teams, services also included medical, pharmaceutical, gynecological and pediatric assistance services, laboratory tests, physiotherapy, psychology and nursing, delivery of eyeglasses, enrollment in the Single Registry (CaÚnico) and in the Renda pra Viver Melhor program.
