The president of the Welfare, Social Assistance, Childhood, Adolescence and Family Committee, federal deputy Fernando Rodolfo (PL-PE) reported this Wednesday (20) that he has been suffering a series of threats, due to having scheduled a vote next week , the bill that prohibits equating same-sex unions with marriage.
“Extremist groups are attacking me on social media for having proposed a project that has been stalled in the Chamber since 2007. And they started offending my family, for no reason at all, as I am just the president of the committee and I am fulfilling my duty to unburden the number of projects shelved in the commission”, he told Gazeta do Povo.
Rodolfo also reinforced that he “will not give up his convictions” and that he “will not be intimidated”. “I accept the criticism and I am ready for the debate. However, everything has a limit,” he said.
Through a note, published on social media, the Pernambuco parliamentarian demonstrated his indignation, especially due to the fact that “untrue and accusatory information” had been released about the death of his biological father, on the 17th.
“Out of respect for my children, my family and my history, I register my indignation at what they are trying to do and reiterate that I will not give up on my convictions. What is at issue is not my father’s death but my position as president of the commission,” he wrote.
In a hearing held this Tuesday (19), the commission chaired by Fernando Rodolfo reached an agreement to vote on PL 580/2007, which deals with same-sex unions, next Wednesday (27/9). The approved agreement was that a public hearing on the matter will be held on Tuesday, and the project will be voted on on Wednesday without the government base presenting the “obstruction kit” to prevent the vote.
