President of Sebrae appoints PT members to leadership positions – 06/12/2023 – Panel

The new president of Sebrae (Brazilian Support Service for Micro and Small Companies), PT Décio Lima, appointed party and ideological allies to leadership positions in the entity.

Gleber Naime, a former member of the PT’s National Executive, will be the agency’s national communication manager. He was also councilor for the party in João Monlevade (MG) between 1993 and 2000.

His deputy will be Antônio Alonso Jr., who since 2012 has been part of the Lula Institute’s communication team.

Another PT candidate named is Carlito Merss, one of the best-known members of the party in Santa Catarina, in the same state as Lima. Former state and federal deputy and former mayor of Joinville, he was appointed manager of Public Policy.

Although it is a private law entity, Sebrae is heavily influenced by the federal government, which controls several votes in the council.

Lima was only sworn in as president of the organization in April, after a long process of pressure from the PT and the Lula government on his predecessor, Carlos Melles, who ended up stepping down. Former mayor of Blumenau and former deputy, Lima ran for governor of Santa Catarina last year.

The entity has a budget of more than R$ 5 billion for this year and is dedicated to work that in theory is technical, supporting micro and small companies, great job generators.

The Sebrae advisory stated that President Décio Lima invited professionals “from the market, in the exercise of their attributions”.

Naime, according to the agency’s directors, has more than 30 years of experience in the area in which he will work. Sebrae lists the fact that he was the coordinator of several PT communication projects, in addition to being a small business owner.

“Antonio Alonso Jr. has 26 years of experience in communication, including Folha de S.Paulo“.

As for Merss, the reason given for the nomination was that it was a position freely appointed by the president.

Sebrae did not inform the salaries received by the directors. The entity is known for the hefty remuneration of its leadership positions, which in the case of directors exceeds R$ 50,000.
