the state representative Alliny Serrão informed on the morning of this Monday, 24th, that Laranjal do Jari, Vitória do Jari and Almeirim (PA), each municipality through its own mayor, but together, are taking to the parliamentary bench of Amapa, in Brasília, reports of the critical social and economic situation in Vale do Jari as a result of the crisis generated by the company Jari Celulose.
Alliny President of the Legislative Assembly of Amapá (Alap), born in Monte Dourado, district of the municipality of Almeirim in Pará, where Jari Celulose is also with capital influence on the other bank of the river Jari, the side of Amapá where Vitória do Jari and Laranjal do Jari are located. The now state deputy was mayor of Laranjal do Jari, a position currently occupied by her husband, Mario Serrao.
The president of Alap noted that Jari Celulose has been facing several problems for some time that now lead to a request for judicial recovery with a promise that it wants to resume its industrialization. But while nothing is definitively resolved, social and economic problems are growing in the Jari Valley.
“There are employees who haven’t been paid for their work for more than seven years; three thousand of them were dismissed from the company”, lamented the parliamentarian, showing that this, due to the great impact it causes, causes great inconvenience in the region. The government of Amapá has had a great participation in mitigating the problems in Vale do Jari, helping with food the workers stopped.
Alliny recorded, in the interview, that although Jari Celulose is located in Pará, the government of the neighboring state has been largely absent from the crisis. Meanwhile, mayors Maria Lucidalva (Almeirim), Márcio Serrão (Jari orange grove) and Ary Duarte da Costa (Victory of Jari) are together taking demands to the federal bench. The deputy went so far as to say that there is hope that the BNDES come to finance Jari Celulose so that the industry can resume its activities.
