President-elect of UNE wants student assistance law for university students – 07/17/2023 – Panel

Recently elected president of the UNE (National Union of Students), Manuella Mirella, 26, from Pernambuco, intends to pressure Congress to approve a national student assistance law to reduce dropout rates at universities.
Currently an Environmental Engineering student, Manuella entered the Faculty of Chemistry at UFRPE (Federal Rural University of Pernambuco) by quota.
At the teaching center, she had access to a student assistance grant and managed to get accommodation at the Student House.
“When I talk about how quotas and student assistance change lives, it’s because they changed mine. It was the Student House, the R$400 scholarship and the university restaurant that gave me opportunities”, he says.
“Nobody studies hungry. Nobody goes to the university on foot. When I entered graduation I took three buses to go and three to return. , conclude and give back to society.”
