Prep Tech: Google opens applications for technology program, focusing on women and indigenous people

In partnership with the technology education platform Ada, the training program offers more than 240 vacancies for women and black, brown or indigenous people

Google is open for registration for the third class of the Prep Tech program, a free training course in the area of ​​software engineering. The program is exclusive to women and people who declare themselves black, brown or indigenous who want to go through a qualification process and prepare for the selection process at the company.

In partnership with Ada, a teaching platform specializing in technology, the program will select more than 240 students in this edition, with registrations going from March 26th to May 12th, 2024 on the Ada website, at the link HERE.

In its third edition, Prep Tech expanded the number of places compared to last year, from 24 to 240, and also the scope of the program: in addition to black and brown people, the preparatory course is now dedicated to women and people who declare themselves indigenous.

The program will last four months, will be in an online format and will include two remote classes per week on data structures and algorithms, in addition to English classes certified by Berlitz. Selected people will also have the opportunity to attend lectures by Google employees, participate in a mentoring program, take English classes and receive tips on the interview process.

After completing the course, they will be invited to participate in selection processes in the Software Engineering area at Google and will have the opportunity to apply all the technical knowledge acquired during the program. Read more about past editions of Prep Tech on the Google Brazil blog.

According to Google Software Engineering recruitment leader and creator of Prep Tech, Kelly Maia, the program stands out for being a long-term project to expand racial and gender equity in Google engineering and in the technology market.

“Through Prep Tech, we want to generate opportunities for professionals with underrepresented profiles within technology. We know we still have a lot to learn and experience, but we are very happy to reach our third and biggest edition.”

For Ada’s founder and CEO, Felipe Paiva, the project is an opportunity to prepare and integrate new candidates into Google’s selection process.

“We recognize the challenges faced by these professionals, which is why we are focused on strengthening this technical learning during the Prep Tech program. Candidates will have full support on this journey so they can build the necessary skills in the Software Engineering area and be successful in interviews,”

In the Prep Tech registration process, you must have an intermediate level of English, five years of professional experience in technology or three years of experience if you have academic training in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other exact science disciplines, such as Physics, Mathematics and Information Systems. Google engineering expansion in Brazil and open positions
