Prefecture invites beneficiaries of Aid Brazil for health monitoring in Manaus

In the capital of Amazonas, 337,513 users must be accompanied in the first period of the program this year, from January to June

The City of Manaus, through the Municipal Health Secretariat (Semsa), is calling beneficiaries of the Auxílio Brasil program for health monitoring, which must be done every six months. In the capital of Amazonas, 337,513 users must be followed up in the first term of the program this year, from January to June, simply attending any Basic Health Unit (UBS).

The head of Semsa’s Food and Nutrition Nucleus, Lia Ferreira, informs that, of the total number of beneficiaries, 220,472 are women aged between 14 and 44 years old, and 117,041 are children up to 7 years old. Only these two audiences are considered priority for the program’s health follow-up, coordinated by the Ministry of Citizenship.

“This is one of the conditionalities of the federal government to ensure that the family continues to receive assistance, as well as school attendance, for example. However, in addition, it is a very important moment for women and children to be received in our units and undergo a complete health assessment, so that professionals can intervene in a timely manner if necessary”, he says.

Lia explains that, in the case of women, one of the points analyzed is whether she has an updated preventive exam. If not, the UBS doctor or nurse will provide all the guidelines for her to perform the procedure, and thus be able to prevent cervical cancer. If she is pregnant, it is checked that her antenatal appointments are up to date.

“Professionals also perform a preventive general assessment, checking nutritional and development indices, such as height and weight, as well as the user’s vaccination card. When looking for the UBS, women can also access family planning services, such as insertion of an IUD, or some other particular issue”, says Lia.

On the other hand, children have, mainly, the vaccination card and verified nutritional indexes, the latter being one of the strategies for preventing malnutrition or obesity. The child may be included, if recommended by the health professional, in micronutrient supplementation programs developed in the municipality, such as vitamin A and iron.

When looking for the health unit, the user needs to present RG, CPF and National Health Card (CNS). If pregnant, it is recommended that women take the prenatal card, and children should take the vaccine card.
