Pre-candidate Kim wants a new revision of the Master Plan – 07/30/2023 – Panel

Pre-candidate for mayor of São Paulo, federal deputy Kim Kataguiri (União Brasil) says he will carry out a new review of the Master Plan if he is elected next year.

“The recent House review was a step in the right direction, but the end result turned out to be very timid,” says Kim.

In his opinion, there was a lack of discussion on topics such as the active façade, mixed use of properties and city density. “The Master Plan is a law, and nothing prevents the Chamber from modifying it again”, he says.

Since he was chosen by MBL (Movimento Brasil Livre) to present his pre-candidacy, Kataguiri began to think about a government program. He will still have to become viable in União Brasil, which for the time being comprises the base of Mayor Ricardo Nunes (MDB), candidate for re-election.

Other points that the deputy intends to prioritize in a hypothetical dispute for mayoralty are investment in digital government and the defense that municipal guards have police power, which requires a constitutional amendment. Still in the defense chapter, he wants the return of ostensive urban patrols.

About cracolândia, Kim says that it is necessary to create incentives for users and homeless people in general to accept going to city hall shelters.

He is also against the proposal for zero bus fares, considered by Nunes and federal deputy Guilherme Boulos (PSOL), the current leader in the polls. “It is an unfeasible policy, which will reward the inefficiency of the system”, he says.

In order to convince his party to support the candidacy, Kim has adopted the discourse that Nunes is unable to beat Boulos in the second round, due to his strong rejection. He and the MBL began to make tougher criticisms of the mayor.
