Pre-candidate, Boulos uses a jacket to distribute lunchboxes – 05/16/2023 – Panel

PSOL’s pre-candidate for mayor of São Paulo, federal deputy Guilherme Boulos has frequently appeared in formal attire on his social media, in an outfit that clashes with his traditional image of a homeless leader.
The dress is worn even on occasions outside the Chamber’s premises, where the use of a suit and tie is mandatory.
Last Thursday (11), for example, he wore a jacket to an inspection carried out at a hostel for homeless people in the city of São Paulo. He kept the costume in a conversation circle with Father Júlio Lancellotti beside him.
On May 5, the scene was repeated during a distribution of lunchboxes in Praça da Sé along with other deputies. Boulos was the only one in a jacket.
He hasn’t retired his more laid-back style altogether, however. In some events, he still appears in a T-shirt.
Boulos says the choice of suit depends on the situation. “When I go to a hospital or a shelter as a deputy, it’s natural that I wear a parliamentarian’s outfit. When I’m in a solidarity kitchen, there I am in my most traditional way”, he says.
One of the focuses of the deputy’s mayoral campaign will be to convey a more “institutional” image of him and soften the perception of a large part of the population that he is “radical”.
He claims, however, that the focus at the moment is on his mandate as a federal deputy. “Unlike Mayor Ricardo Nunes, who doesn’t think about anything other than the election, I don’t even have a marketer yet”, he says.
As the Panel showed, Boulos says he intends to start organizing his campaign only in the second half. For now, he intends to dedicate himself to the mandate.
