the athlete from powerlifting amapaense Yesdney macedo, 43 years old, was participating in Arnold South America 2023, in São Paulo, from April 14th to 16th, and returned home with two trophies in the Power Biceps Free and Repetition category. In addition, he won third place in the Mas-Wrestling competition, which according to him, was something that was not in his plans.
“I ventured into this modality. I was invited the day before the competition and I accepted. As I am a powerlifting athlete and I do weightlifting, squats, bench presses, and strong grip work, I accepted the challenge. I fought with athletes from Slovakia, South Africa, Chile”said the athlete.
sydney was the only person from Amapá who represented the state at the Arnold South America, which is the biggest multi-sport event in South America and the biggest meeting point for the nutrition, fitness, sports and health sectors. It is affiliated with the International Power Federation (FIP).
The amapaense is the current state champion of powerlifting and was already a world champion in the modality. He has also done capoeira, jiu-jitsu and boxing, being runner-up in this modality in Amapá in 2006. sydney, sport has become something important in his life and for his health.
“I love what I do. Sport has always been in my life. I have a diagnosis of bipolar disorder and I undergo control. My escape valve is the sport, because it is not only the performance, but the quality of life and the good it does for health”he spoke.
The athlete prepares to travel to Manaus (AM), to defend his title in the Open Word Cup Of Powerlifting Biceps.
