Porto Alegre em Cena announces selections for the second stage of the 29th edition

The Artistic Direction of Porto Alegre em Cena met to select the program for the next stage of the festival, which will take place between the 16th and 26th of March in different spaces of the city. There were 137 entries for projects and shows. Among them are the most renowned collectives in the city, the long-lived and the newest, diversified proposals connected with current affairs.
In order to reach the number of 11 adult theater/dance shows and 5 theater shows for the Em Ceninha program – the novelty announced by the festival – criteria were observed such as commitment to affirmative action, shows that deal with themes of indigenous peoples and blackness , the presence of women on stage, innovative languages, themes close to the theme of the pandemic, politics and polarization, loneliness and incommunicability.
The result of this curatorship can be seen in several spaces in the city where the shows will be staged, such as Teatro Renascença, Teatro da Pucrs – Building 40 and Salão de Atos da Pucrs, Teatro do CHC Santa Casa, Bruno Kiefer and Theatro São Pedro, in addition to presentations in the streets of Porto Alegre.
With these 16 shows selected for March and two national attractions that will be released soon, added to the 15 shows in December, the 29th edition of the Festival will present a total of 31 shows.
So that the entire artistic community feels contemplated, those who were not selected for this edition are automatically entered for the selection of the 30th edition, upon interest and confirmation between the group and the festival’s production. Edition number 30 will return to the stage in September in celebration of three decades of programming.
