Economist and federal deputy, José Ricardo (PT), will launch the book: História do Bairro São Francisco this Saturday (28), which portrays the emergence of culture, geographic space. The event will be held from 4 pm, in the Parish Hall of the Church of São Francisco, which is located at Praça Coari S/N, São Francisco neighborhood.
São Francisco, is a neighborhood that began in the 1950s, with the arrival of residents from other locations in the city of Manaus and the interior of the state. And there they started to build families, homes and even businesses. A neighborhood that was being urbanized, from the struggle and organization of the residents themselves.
For José Ricardo, it is very important to record for future generations the history of the neighborhoods where they live and that new lives and stories will be built, and thus value the place where you live. “In Manaus, there are several neighborhoods that deserve to be valued. And San Francisco stands out because it is a neighborhood that was a reference in sport, folklore and religion. Therefore, it is necessary to value the place where we live, making it better and better to live with the family, in safety and tranquility. And this is a contribution that I am giving to the neighborhood, due to the fact that I have lived in São Francisco for more than two decades”, he highlighted.
He also explains that the book also pays a fair tribute to the residents of the locality, there are hundreds of families that live there and that, in some way, helped in the construction of the São Francisco neighborhood, making it what it is today, in a big way. important for the state, contributing to the economy of Amazonas and even hosting public bodies of great relevance to Amazonian society. As is the case of the Getúlio Vargas and Márcio Nery schools, as well as the Municipal Secretariat of Agriculture, Supply, Center and Informal Commerce (Semacc), institutions that serve the entire population.
The work also introduces readers to the neighborhood’s contribution to the popular and artistic culture of Amazonas. They are folk associations, singers and artists living in San Francisco who, with their talents and dedication, contributed to the strengthening of Amazonian culture. As is the case with Boi Bumba Corre-Campo and the Primos da Ilha Samba School, which have part of their stories told in the book. As well as the life of the plastic artist Marius Bell, who illustrated the posters of the films that were shown in the old cinemas of Manaus. And the singer Cilene, known throughout most of the country for his beautiful songs, who is also a son of the San Francisco neighborhood.
