Porto Alegre Chamber defines taxi fare adjustment

Councilors of the Capital approved this Wednesday afternoon (19) a bill that establishes a series of changes in taxi transportation in Porto Alegre. The proposal came from the councilor Claudio Janta (SDD), through amendment number four. Thus, the value of flag 2 is fixed at 30% of the value of flag 1. This tariff is foreseen between the period from 8 pm to 6 am, or from 3 pm on Saturdays, in addition to Sundays and holidays.

The request for the adjustment value must be made by the union of the category, respecting the General Market Price Index (IGPM). It will no longer be necessary to call a general meeting to request an increase in the tariff, the request can be made by the union itself – which must forward the request to the EPTC (Public Transport and Circulation Company).

Although the proposal did not indicate an immediate readjustment in the tariff for flag 1, the tendency is for the category to make the request soon. According to Adam Ferreira de Camposmanaging director of Synditaxi, the forecast is that the category will meet in the coming days and establish the value of the readjustment. According to the director of the union, it will not exceed 30%.

Amendment three and five do not directly impact the user, but it is a way to facilitate the driver’s daily life. Amendment number three, authored by councilor José Freitas (REP), indicates that there is no provision for quarantine for the authorized person to become an auxiliary driver. Amendment five establishes a decrease in the workload of the Professional Training Course, which currently takes about 60 hours. With the approval of the amendment, it will take place in 50 hours and provides for the possibility of doing it remotely.
