Sales of light and heavy vehicles accelerated in the last week of June, which ended with 189.5 thousand units licensed. The result represents an increase of 7.4% compared to May. The data are based on the Renavam (National Register of Motor Vehicles).

After a period of impoundment in the records of zero-kilometer models, registrations occurred in great volume. The high is due to the reduction in prices due to the program of R$ 500 million in incentives launched by the government at the beginning of the month.

The estimate was that the plan would last about four months, but the resources for cars reached R$ 400 million in just two weeks.

When considering only passenger cars, which are the main target of the measure, sales were up 11.4%. 168.4 thousand units were registered in the last month.

Daily sales averaged 9,025 units in June. In May, 8,024 licenses/day were registered.

This Friday (30th), there was a peak: around 30,000 light and heavy vehicles were licensed throughout Brazil, which confirms the impoundment.

Discounts granted by the government plan range from R$2,000 to R$8,000, being applied to cars that cost up to R$120,000. But some automakers offer promotions and bonuses, in addition to launching versions with more affordable prices to suit the proposed range.

A second round of benefits provides for an additional R$300 million, this time including sales to companies such as rental companies. According to Ciro Possobom, president of Volkswagen do Brasil, this segment represents approximately 50% of the market.

The assembler has its yards full and had to stop production. The problem occurred due to the wait of the leasing companies, which were waiting for the discounts to be released. With the resumption of sales, the challenge is to distribute these vehicles throughout Brazil.

In the accumulated result for the year, the commercialization of light and heavy vehicles registers an increase of 12.7% in relation to 2022. The first semester ended with 1.035 million units licensed.
