After negotiations that involved companies, professionals and the government, the regulation of the work of app drivers is closer to being put into effect. Planalto should send a project to the National Congress in the coming days that addresses the issue and creates a professional category for the group: self-employed platform workers.

A Sheet had access to a draft of the text, which provides for union representation, payment per hour of work, working hours limit and contribution to the INSS: drivers will allocate 7.5% of their remuneration to Social Security, and companies, 20% of the minimum remuneration.

Today without regulation, the category has turned to the courts to define the nature of the work. The issue is in the virtual plenary session of the Supreme Court, with a process that discusses whether there is an employment relationship between a driver and Uber. In a first stage of voting, the ministers will define by Friday (1st) whether the court’s decision will apply to similar cases — there is already a majority formed in this regard.

This Thursday’s Café da Manhã (29) discusses what should change with the proposed regulations made by the government. The reporter from Sheet Cristiane Gercina explains what is in the project and what interests were included in the negotiations.

The audio program is published on Spotify, a streaming service partner of Sheet in the initiative and which specializes in music, podcast and video. You can listen to the episode by clicking above. To access the app, simply register for free.

Café da Manhã is published from Monday to Friday, always at the beginning of the day. The episode is presented by journalists Gustavo Simon and Magê Flores, produced by Laila Mouallem and Carolina Moraes and sound editing by Thomé Granemann.
