This Wednesday (1st), the Sheet revealed that the Internal Revenue inspector, João José Tafner, said he had been pressured by the former head of the body to file a lawsuit against a server who would have violated the secrecy of former president Jair Bolsonaro’s (PL) opponents.
Those accused by Tafner are former revenue secretary Julio Cesar Vieira Gomes and former undersecretary general José de Assis Ferraz Neto, who deny wrongdoing.
The process targets a former chief of intelligence at the agency. Earlier this week, the newspaper showed that Ricardo Pereira Feitosa accessed and copied tax data, without legal justification, from three people: attorney Eduardo Gussem, responsible for investigating the alleged “cracks” scheme that would involve Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL- RJ), and businessman Paulo Marinho and former minister Gustavo Bebianno, allies who broke with the former president’s family.
Finance Minister Fernando Haddad signaled to allies that he should dismiss Feitosa.
This Thursday’s Café da Manhã (2) explains the violation of secrecy in the Revenue and discusses the use of the public machine to defend personal interests in the Bolsonaro government. The podcast talks with Folha reporter Ranier Bragon in Brasília, who analyzes the possible consequences of the case about the former president’s enemies.
The audio program is published on Spotify, Folha’s partner streaming service in the initiative and which specializes in music, podcast and video. You can listen to the episode by clicking above. To access the application, just register for free.
