Under the pressure of criticism that points to the lack of coordinated actions in the area of ​​public security, the federal government launched this Monday (2) a package of measures to try to curb the action of organized crime in the country. The Ministry of Justice estimates investing R$900 million by 2026, and Flávio Dino immediately released R$20 million for Bahia and authorized the use of the National Force in Rio de Janeiro.

The minister refuted the demands and stated that there was planning and action — which managed, for example, to help stop the escalation of violence in Rio Grande do Norte in March. But analysts believe that the Lula (PT) government lacks a brand in the area that goes beyond emergency actions to help governors, who are directly responsible for public security.

One of the glass ceilings is precisely the crisis in Bahia, a state governed for almost 20 years by the PT; the federal government has avoided criticism of the Jerônimo Rodrigues administration. In this context, what is seen as a difference in the statements about, for example, Operation Escudo, on the coast of São Paulo, in which there are also allegations of abuses by the security forces — the state is governed by the Bolsonarist Tarcisio de Freitas (Republicans ).
