I quickly go through the blog to recommend something that I had been looking for for some time in the podosphere, but hadn’t yet found anything to my satisfaction: a good podcast with a historical view of biblical texts. If you know English, it’s worth checking out “Biblical Time Machine”. It is available on all major platforms.

Presented by the British Helen Bond, professor of Christian origins at the University of Edinburgh, and the American journalist Dave Roos, who has a degree in religious studies from Duke University, the program has as one of its great virtues the caliber of the interviewees: the authors of the main Works on the subject released in recent years, both on the Old and New Testaments, regularly participate in the episodes.

In general, predictably, Bond plays the role of the expert, while Roos seeks to ask the questions that the lay public would, in theory, like to ask. It is also worth mentioning the good mix of more conceptual themes (what authorship meant for biblical writers, how the list of New Testament books was chosen) and interesting insights into material culture: clothing from Jesus’ time. (A clue: no one dressed like today’s Bedouins.)
