Podcast discusses PCC action against Sergio Moro – Folha – 03/23/2023 – Podcasts

An operation launched by the Federal Police this Wednesday (22) revealed a plan by the criminal faction PCC (First Command of the Capital) to attack public authorities. Among the targets were Senator Sergio Moro (União Brasil-PR) and prosecutor Lincoln Gakiya, who has been investigating the faction for years. At least nine people were arrested by the PF.
Moro established a direct relationship between the threat and his actions at the head of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security during the Jair Bolsonaro (PL) government. In 2019, the then minister acted in the process of transferring several PCC leaders, including Marcos Camacho, Marcola, to the federal penitentiary system —after determination by the State Justice of São Paulo.
The PF said that the former Lava Jato judge had been being monitored since January, but the reasons why he entered the PCC list are still being analyzed. The fact that the plan involved an opposition senator, who as a magistrate ordered the arrest of current President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), gave political contours to the situation —rejected by the Minister of Justice, Flávio Dino.
This Thursday (23), Café da Manhã tells what is known about the PCC’s plan and debates the Lula government’s strategy to fight organized crime in the country. Brasília-based reporter Fabio Serapião also discusses the political use of the story.
