The open dispute that the National Congress waged against what parliamentarians consider a usurpation of power by the Federal Supreme Court took on a very firm shape this Wednesday (27).

The Senate approved the bill that establishes the time frame for demarcating indigenous lands; In a matter of hours, the text passed the Constitution and Justice Committee and received urgency status. In the Chamber, the agenda was obstructed, also as a form of pressure from the center on the government — they see Planalto articulating in favor of debates in the Supreme Court and delays in releasing positions.

The measures are a direct response to recent decisions and debates that have entered the court’s agenda. The time frame thesis, for example, was overturned by the magistrates less than a week ago — this Wednesday the trial concluded with the provision of compensation to owners.
